Le Grand TourI've always wanted to backpack across a long distance and live off my own two feet. I don't know what it is, but there's something in the idea of sustaining one's self on your own physical attributes that just draws me in. I want to do something that pushes me to a physical limit, that I can start and finish. I've decided my first such adventure will be a trip to the Grand Canyon powered by human energy.
I'm looking for about 4 or 5 other cyclists who would like to make the trek with me in September 2010, provided the apocalypse hasn't occurred. Between now and then, I will be doing a number of training rides, which you can follow via Twitter. All levels of cycling are welcome, but be warned, based on my timeline, we will be pulling up to 80 miles a day. I did 40 miles of fairly flat land on October 24th, and it was definitely tiring. Also, you need to be able to handle some mountainous terrain; we are going to the Grand Canyon, you know. As I discover more information and refine the route, you'll see updates both on my blog, and permanently posted here (so they're easier to find). Happy Cycling! danceralamode |
